International accreditation for Department of Naval Architecture and Ship Building of SNGCE

The Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA), London, had bestowed its accreditation on the Department of Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding of Sree Narayana Gurukulam College of Engineering (SNGCE) in July, 2016.

Founded in 1860 in London to "...advance the art and science of ship design... " today the Royal Institution of Naval Architects is a world renowned and highly respected international professional institution and learned society whose members are involved at all levels in the design, construction, maintenance and operation of all marine vessels and structures. RINA has members in over ninety countries, and is widely represented in industry, universities and colleges, and maritime organisations world-wide.

The accreditation has been conferred after a thorough evaluation process spanning over a year and is proof of the competency of the department in providing effective training, infrastructure and industry exposure to its students at par with international standards.

The department, which had earlier organized the inaugural function of the Kochi chapter of RINA, now occupies a niche among the seven other RINA accredited institutes in the country including Indian Institutes of Technology at Madras and Kharagpur and the Cochin University of Science and Technology.
