Workshop on VR Integrated Building Design
The Department of Civil Engineering organized an expert talk titled “VR Integrated Building Design” for Civil Engineering students. This event was held in collaboration with the Civil Engineering Association and the NDLI Club on Jan 17, 2025, at the Vivekananda Hall. The resource person for this insightful session was Ms Aswani, Project Manager of Techmaghi. The session was from 02.30 pm to 04.30pm at Vivekanda Hall. Ms. Aswani explained how VR technology transforms architectural design, enabling immersive visualization and enhanced spatial understanding. She elaborated on how VR helps architects and engineers explore structural layouts, interior designs, and material aesthetics before construction begins, reducing design errors and optimizing efficiency. The session also covered the VR equipment and software used in the industry along with various VR headsets and software like Autodesk Revit, 3dmax, Unity, Lumion, Vray, and Sketchup. Students were able to experience how VR allows users to navigate a virtual building, inspect design elements, and make real-time modifications. This hands-on exposure gave them a clearer understanding of VR’s practical applications in construction and infrastructure planning. In the final segment, Ms. Aswani discussed career opportunities in the field of VR-integrated building design highlighting the emerging roles in VR modeling, architectural visualization, and digital twin technology. The session was both engaging and informative, providing students with a futuristic perspective on the evolving field of civil engineering.
