About Us

The Civil Engineering Department is one of the founding Departments of SNGCE since 2006, offered as per the curriculum of MG University, Kottayam. From 2015, the department offers undergraduate program, B. Tech in Civil Engineering and postgraduate program, M. Tech in Structural Engineering and Construction Management as per the curriculum of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) and the department has made remarkable progress since then.

"Scientists study the world as it is; engineers create the world that has never been."As the problems the society faces are multi-dimensional, so must be our efforts at combating them. With this view in mind, since the inception of the Department, our goal is to make the students do research in challenging engineering problems and provide efficient engineering solutions in the various sub-disciplines of Civil Engineering. By accepting pertinent projects and publishing the results in reputable international conferences and publications, the department ensures that students are actively engaged in research activities. The department have well established laboratories to cater to the needs of academic and research activities. It is well equipped with computational facilities and resources.

The department maintains tight ties with IEI, ISTE, and has a bustling student ICI chapter. The department focuses on taking on consultancy work, which keeps the department up to speed with the industry, as well as undertaking socially meaningful projects like the Rebuilt Kerala Initiative, Sabari Rail Track Road Survey, NATPAC, and Mission Amrit Sarovar, among others.

The students are actively involved in Co-curricular  and Extra Curricular activities throughout the year. The Civil Engineering Association has been functioning for the benefit of the students, aiming to bridge the gap between the academic and the industry by inviting renowned industrialists and academicians to interact with students. The association serves as a platform for students to make technical presentations, technical competitions, gain knowledge about recent advancements and bring together innovative ideas. Technical talks, industrial visits, site visits, etc., are organized and add on courses are conducted on a regular basis to ensure that students are conversant with recent developments in the field of Civil Engineering.
